Booker To Hold Hollywood Fundraiser
Cory Booker has become the latest hot politician in Hollywood with many of the industry's biggest names scheduledd to attend a fundraiser for his Senate campaign in April.
Former United Artists CEO Jerry Weintraub, a Republican who has supported Geroge W. Bush, will host the fundraiser on April 25 that will cost each attendee $5,000 according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The bipartisan guest list includes Steven Spielberg, director J.J. Abrams, Disney head Bob Iger; DreamWorks CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg and known Republican Bruce Willis.
Booker as a Mayor is perceived as less partisan and doing a good job turning around Newark political consultant Bill Carrick tells The Hollywood Reporter. "He's a real up-and-comer with potential for a major political career," said Carrick.
The Hollywood fundraiser is one of several around the country planned for Booker. BuzzFeed reports a check of the events listings on CoryBooker.com shows two private-home receptions in Ft. Lauderdale & Palm Beach the following night. He'll attend a reception in Washington D.C. and another in New York on April 9 at the home Barry Coller, the physician in chief of Rockefeller University Hospital. The page has since been taken down.
