A little of this and a little of that on the day before Ground Hog’s Day.

Governor Christie in studio for Ask The Governor

Whether you like him or not you have to admire the fact that Governor Christie rarely backs off on something he says or does. However even he knows that you sometimes put your foot in your mouth and getting it out is not always easy.

The Governor will certainly stay away from comparisons between the struggle for civil rights equality and gay marriage but before too long he’ll insert that foot in his rather large mouth again.

GROWN MEN WEARING TEAM JERSEYS?

To each his own but there’s something rather strange about grown men wearing sports jerseys with the name of an athlete on the back. It’s okay with you’re young and even in your 30’s I guess but there should be some kind of cut-off where it’s time to move on. However fans express their passion in different ways and who am I to tell them what to wear. We should all agree though that an adult male with a jersey with his OWN name on it is just not acceptable.

WHAT'S A FIRST DOWN?

40% of those who will be watching Sunday’s Super Bowl admit they are not football fans and basically are just joining the party for game day. That’s the problem with Super Bowl parties….if you are really into the game you often find yourself surrounded by people asking such provocative football questions as “what’s a first down?”

The Lacey Boys Basketball team lost to Toms River South in the quarterfinals of the WOBM Christmas Classic on December 26th to fall to 3-1 on the season. I wonder if there is anyone who would have predicted that up until this point it would be the only loss on their record. The Lions routed Pinelands Tuesday night for their 12th straight victory and in the process clinched the Class B South championship. Quite an accomplishment for head coach Ryan O’Rourke and the Lacey program.

SHORE PLAYER MAKES GOOD

Congratulations to Toms River’s Jordan Orlovsky who was named this week a graduate assistant football coach at the University of Connecticut. The 25-year old former Toms River North football player spent this past season as a program aide in the UConn football office and before that spent three seasons as quality control coach at his alma mater the University of Miami. Orlovsky will work with the defense this coming season under Huskies head coach Paul Pasqualoni.
