Abused Dog Sammy, and Sister Addy Are Doing Well
Abused dog Sammy and his sister Addy are doing well according to their respective caretakers as their owners face a court date on animal abuse charges.
Addy, a Cocker Spaniel recovered from the Brick home of Keith & Shauna Morgan a week after brother Sammy was turned in, is in good health Victor “Buddy” Amato, chief humane law enforcement officer for the Monmouth County SPCA tells the Asbury Park Press. The MSPCA is caring for Addy at their Eatontown facility.
While Sammy was turned in covered in his own waste with matted fur, Addy had been groomed before being turned in and is being closely examined.
Sammy has been undergoing cold laser treatments at the Red Bank Veterinary Hospital the past few days as part of his recovery. In a post on their Facebook page, the hospital explained that cold laser therapy “helps ease discomfort caused by the inflammation in his ears, and to promote healing.” He also continues to eat and drink on his own.
Kevin & Shauna Morgan, meanwhile, will appear in court on Wednesday to face multiple animal cruelty charges, each of which has a maximum six-month jail sentence and a $1,000 fine according to the Asbury Park Press.
