No beaches closed following Monday's thundershowers and heavy rainfall which tend to send some of the animal droppings to the top, but 16-swim spots at the shore are under advisories for excess bacteria as of Tuesday, according to the Ocean County Health Department and NJ DEP.

Retests will be done at Windward Beach in Brick Township, Shelter Cove in Toms River as well as beaches in Sea Girt, Spring Lake, Asbury Park, Long Branch, Avon, Neptune, Deal and Highlands.

Toms River Regional School District advocates, teachers, taxpayers and parents will be heading to the statehouse in Trenton Thursday morning on buses to protest school funding revision which threaten to crush the district by draining them of over $3,000,000.00 a year starting in September.

Superintendent David Healy says the proposal is being taken up after school budgets have been submitted and approved on a statewide level for the next academic year.

"We're already planned for the 2017-18 school year, and that planning process begins in August of the prior year," said Healy.

Organizers and supporters involved with the protest will set out their agenda later today in front of Toms River High School South.

 

A former Morris County Prosecutor believes that federal officials may already be investigating Union County Democrat James Devine who posted "Hunt Republicans" on Twitter last week, within hours of the shooting of Congressman Steve Scalise and others were attacked by a gunman in Virginia.

Although neither the FBI nor the Union County Prosecutor's Office has confirmed or denied an investigation is taking place.
