Only one  beach closure today - the 25th Street Bay Beach in Barnegat Light, which showed excessive bacteria in two straight days of tests. It will reopen when levels subside to state-approved guidelines.

Investigators probing Wednesday's crash of a sport utility vehicle into Calloway's Restaurant in Eagleswood determine that the driver lost consciousness. Patty Rulon, 54, of Manahawkin, was behind the wheel when it lurched across Route 9, hit a sidwalk, guide wire and lamp before ramming the restaurant's wall. Albert Rulon, 91, also died. A teen relation and a fourth passenger are hospitalized.

A body found on the beach at Seven Presidents Oceanfront Park in Long Branch Wednesday might be that of the kite surfer who disappeared in Sandy Hook last Friday. Police said that the body matches the description of the missing Hobokenite. The cause of death has not been issued.

Allegedly trying to outrun one Stafford Townnship cop, a motorcyclist runs into another. Police said that Thomas Walton of Eastampton sped off during a road violation stop on Route 72 early Tuesday...bailed off the highway for Route 9...and hit a squad car at the junction of East Bay Avenue. Police said that the bike was reported stolen in Millville.
