Heads up Ocean County drivers - your daily commute could be getting more expensive, with a possible toll hike on the Garden State Parkway in the not too distant future.

The only catch is that as of right now, we don't know when and we don't know how much.

Just today, NJ.com reported that an agenda for the New Jersey Turnpike Authority's Board of Commissioners contained a last minute addition calling for public hearings on a, “proposed capital program and supporting revenue enhancement.”

According to the report, that's just another way of saying that the NJTA will hold hearings on proposed toll hikes on both the Garden State Parkway and the New Jersey Turnpike.

As of right now, the hearings are scheduled for March 18th and 19th, but there weren't any further details released, including when a potential toll hike would take effect or even how much our tolls could go up.

The last time that Parkway and Turnpike tolls went up was in 2012, but that was a big one, with payments averaging a 53% increase across the state's two major highways.

The NJ.com article quotes a Turnpike Authority spokesman as saying that more details on the proposed toll increases will be announced before the mid-March hearings.
