Wow! Huge New Housing Development Coming to Barnegat, New Jersey
It looks to be a pretty large construction site in Southern Ocean County as the ground is broken for brand new housing development.
This latest housing development is located on West Bay Avenue ( Route 554 ) in Barnegat Township. It's the Cottages New Jersey.

It's called the Cottages at Compass Point in Barnegat Township. It's billed as "New Jersey's finest new home resort community". It's an active adult community. and as you travel on West Bay Avenue west you will see this new construction site.
This latest Ocean County project is the vision of well-known developer Chris Vernon. In a previous Tap Into article, it was discussed that there was opposition to this project, but Vernon hoped area residents would be happy as they saw it move forward.
The starting price for these new homes begins just under $300,000.00 and there are several models including:
- Dogwood-1,460 sq. ft
- Magnolia-1,460 sq. ft
- Wisteria-1,396 sq. ft
- Lilac- 1,152 sq. ft
- Hawthorn- 1,314 sq. ft
- Willow-1,378 sq. ft
