I love sports, but if I'm being honest I'm not all that great at sports.

Don't get me wrong I love to play, but I was never on a team in school, I didn't win any titles or set any records outside of summer camp.

But thanks to WOBM, I've been able to live some of my sports dreams right here in Ocean County.

It started right after I moved back home to NJ and was invited to take batting practice on the field at FirstEnergy Park, home of course of the Lakewood BlueClaws.

I'm not joking - I practiced.

Seriously, I didn't want to be the one guy who couldn't hit so I went to some local batting cages and spent a good bit of time working on my swing.

Thankfully, I did make some good contact. It didn't end like in a movie where the general manager comes running onto the field offering the prodigious stranger a contract, but it was a heck of a lot of fun taking some hacks on a professional diamond.

I was given the opportunity to host an in-game contest during a Devils game at The Prudential Center. While I'm not much of a hokey guy, what kid doesn't dream of being on a jumbotron in a packed arena?

I got to hop on a Zamboni at the Jersey Shore Arena in Wall.

I was a member of an office softball team that got to play against BlueClaws employees on the field at FirstEnergy Park (we got our butts kicked).

And then there were the two moments that I would say are tied as highlights - I threw out a ceremonial first pitch at a BlueClaws game, and I was the public address announcer for a BlueClaws game.

These are just a few moments that wouldn't have been possible if it wasn't for my position here at WOBM. I may not have been much of an athlete growing up, but I've had some really amazing opportunities to make some of my sports dreams come true thanks to WOBM!
