With Memorial Day Weekend very quickly approaching, it's only two weeks away from this writing, Jersey Shore destinations are starting to lay out plans for their gradual reopenings.

Yesterday, the mayor of North Wildwood announced plans to start to reopen the boardwalk this weekend, May 8th.

With Governor Phil Murphy announcing today that New Jersey will remain under an official health emergency designation for at least another month, which would bring us into early June, towns will have to take those rules into account.

In his Facebook post, Mayor Patrick Rosenello said that the reopening will include these stipulations:

“Walking, running, operating a wheelchair, or engaging in outdoor activities with immediate family members, caretakers, household members, or romantic partners while following best social distancing practices with other individuals, including staying six feet apart. When in public, individuals must practice social distancing and stay six feet apart whenever practicable, excluding immediate family members, caretakers, household members, or romantic partners.”

In the announcement, he also noted that short-term rentals will be allowed to resume after Memorial Day, on Tuesday, May 26th.

We also heard plans from Belmar Mayor Mark Walsifer, who outlined what their summer plans will look like. My colleague Matt Ryan did a great job of summarizing it all, you can check it out by clicking here.
