OAKLAND — A 7-month-old pit bull continues to recover from serious injuries after jumping off the roof of a five story building in Bayonne.

Lexi broke two legs and is having trouble breathing after the leap on Thursday, according to a post by the Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge on their Facebook page. She was taken to Oradell Animal Hospital for emergency care.

The Refuge said she will require extensive medical care and specialized foster home.

The post did not say why Lexi was on the roof, what caused her to jump, who the dog belongs to and the origin of the video showing the dog's leap.

Bayonne police said they did not receive a report about the dog. The NJSPCA was checking on the incident.

The Refuge and the Animal Hospital have not yet returned messages seeking comment.
