My house was like a pet hotel this weekend.  The terrier arrived Friday and stayed til Saturday.  Right when she left, the corgi mix arrived.  He’ll be staying for a week while his Mom is away.  I’m happy to help the owners of both these dogs because I know they want their fur babies to be safe and happy, getting the right kind of food and exercise.

Coincidentally, other friends are looking forward to taking their dog on vacation.  They’ve rented a house in the Outer Banks where dogs are welcome…not only in the house, but also on the beach at certain hours.

I’ve taken my dog Taylor on a couple of trips and while I love every minute with her, it’s hard for me to fully relax when she’s with me in a new place.  Thankfully I have a dog-sitter and great friends who can look after her next time I have to go away.

Have you taken your dog with you on vacation?  Or do you prefer to leave your dog with someone…at a pet boarding place or at a petsitter’s home?  Or do you arrange for someone to move into your place while you’re away, playing the role of pet sitter AND house sitter?

If you're not sure what to do with your pet, here's a good article from Cesar Millan, aka The Dog Whisperer
