Driving with an expired registration was the reason a Whiting man was pulled over on Route 70 in Lakehurst but what police found in the car afterwards puts him in bigger trouble.

Police found Todd E. Rendzio, 40, high and then discovered 31-wax folds of heroin, a crack pipe and $17,778.92 in US Currency in his 2015 Honda Civic on Tuesday April 17 around 6:22 pm.

Rendzio gave the patrolman a fake name and date of birth when questioned so he could try getting out of being arrested on some outstanding warrants.

It didn't work for him.

He was arrested for hindering his own apprehension along with five outstanding traffic warrants.

Police say he also showed signs of being under the influence of CDS and that's when a search ensued.

Rendzio is charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin, Possession of Heroin, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Being Under the Influence of CDS and Hindering his own apprehension.

He was issued six motor vehicle summonses for Unregistered Vehicle, Obstruction of View, Driving While Suspended, Unlicensed Driver, Failure to Exhibit Driver's License and Possession of CDS in a Motor Vehicle.

Rendzio was then brought to Lakehurst Police Headquarters for processing.

His vehicle and currency were seized pending civil forfeiture proceedings.

On top of that he was issued a warrant and lodged in the Ocean County Jail, pending a mandatory court appearance with the Ocean County Superior Court.
