As I was walking the hallways listening to 92.7 WOBM it got me thinking about what are my favorite (and even least favorite) Christmas songs so I decided to take a shot.  It’s not easy when you take into consideration many of the songs have been recorded by multiple artists so you have to come up with the version you like best.

  1. (Tie) “The Christmas Song” by Nat King Cole AND "All I Want for Christmas is You” by Mariah Carey

These two are as different as night and day but I can’t pick between them. One is a classic that was originally recorded in 1946 and the other an up-tempo feel-good song that came out nearly 50 years later.

  1. “The Little Drummer Boy” by Bing Crosby & David Bowie

Also referred to as “Peace on Earth” the song was recorded in 1977 for Crosby’s TV special just a month before he died.

  1. “Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town” by Bruce Springsteen.                               Love Bruce’s version of this holiday classic.
  1. “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” by Judy Garland                              77 years old and still great.
  1. “Last Christmas” by WHAM                                                                            Originally released in 1984 it did not become a hit until 2017.
  1. “Believe” by Josh Groban                                                                                From the movie “Polar Express” and it delivers an inspiring message as well.
  1. “Wonderful Christmastime” by Paul McCartney                                            Upbeat and light and perfect for the holiday season.
  1. “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) by Darlene Love                       Released in 1963 it is considered by some one of the best rock and roll holiday songs of all time.  I agree!
  1. (Tie) “Silent Night” by Bing Crosby/”Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” by Perry Como. Simply classics that need to be mentioned.

As for my least favorite…”The Christmas Shoes,” “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus,” “Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer” and “Dominick the Donkey” are all on the list.
