Weekend, Fall Special Events Still A Go in Seaside Heights
Despite the destruction of Thursday's boardwalk fire just to the south, the Seaside Heights boardwalk is open and members of the Business Improvement District say long-awaited events this weekend will take place, and they predict the same for the full lineup of autumn activities.
BID officials say the "vast majority" of the Seaside Heights section of boardwalk was left unscathed. The Mathis Bridge from Toms River to Seaside has been reopened to all traffic, as well as the Tunney Bridge leading back to the mainland.
The Fourth Annual Boy Scout Camporee goes on as scheduled, and the New Heights Festival carries out the events already planned for September 14 and 15, including live music by the Badfish Band.
Next week is the 5th annual Que By The Sea barbeque competition, Fishin' In Seaside Heights on October 4 and the Italian Street Festival and Columbus Day Parade October 11 -13

BID members sent an extra note of appreciation to police, firefighters and emergency medical teams, as well as to Coca-Cola and Home Depot. Both companies have poured voluminous staffing power and funding into the Seaside restoration.
