For a lot of people who grew up at the Jersey Shore, especially in northern Ocean and southern Monmouth Counties, Atlantic Farms in Wall was one of their first petting zoos and farmer's markets.

Yesterday, the owners announced that they've made the difficult decision to close for good.

I'll be sad to see Atlantic Farms go. I've been picking up my family's Thanksgiving and Christmas turkeys right next door at Hinck's Turkey Farm for many holiday seasons, and my nieces have enjoyed visiting their friendly animals in recent years.

The owners say that all of their animals have been re-homed at private farms and petting zoos and they will auction off the farm equipment this spring.
