If the Internet has proven one truism over and over again, it's that there is always more to the story than originally thought. Which brings us to this fantastic update...

A couple months ago, I told you about local journalist Marilyn Hagerty, from Grand Forks, ND who wrote a glowing review of Grand Forks' latest culinary delight...The Olive Garden.

The Internet immediately spread the story well beyond the borders of the 3rd largest city in North Dakota. What attracted the attention was Hagerty's folksy prose and her exultation that the international chain is, “…the most beautiful restaurant now operating in Grand Forks”.

For all the fun that the online community had at the small town journalist's expense, she's getting the last laugh.

Hagerty's name will now be in the annals of history alongside such iconic journalists as Walter Cronkite and Tom Brokaw when she is presented with the 2012 Al Neuharth Excellence in Media Award. It turns out that Hagerty worked alongside Al Neuharth, the founder of USA Today at their high school's student newspaper around 70 years ago.

Who knew??
