Some fireworks are legal and some are not, but a trash can fire in Harvey Cedars last night was due to what borough police say were "spent fireworks".

Police in this Ocean County borough arrived on the scene along with the High Point Volunteer Fire Company and Barnegat Light First Aid Squad to extinguish the trash can and bin that caught fire from the fireworks.

There were no injuries as a result of the incident, police tell WOBM News, and there are no charges being filed at this time.

Harvey Cedars Police do have one message they stress to everyone, regardless of whether you're a borough resident.

"(There are) so many dangers associated with fireworks, many that people don't even think of...be smart, most are illegal in NJ for a reason!"
