FREEHOLD - A Monmouth man accused of stealing more than $750,000 by posing as the nephew of an elderly Red Bank woman with dementia heads for trial. James DeMitro was indicted Monday. Known as Anthony Tatalia, prosecutors say he used legally-binding means to drain the victim's finances, bought a Ferrari for $150,000, took her house for a dollar and tried to take control of her will. DeMitro's been jailed since August. A guilty plea could mean up to 10 years in prison.

MANALAPAN - Police in Manalapan are trying to track the source of a package delivered to a home just before Christmas that contained a severed cat and a threatening letter. Reports say it arrived at a house on Vail Valley Drive December 23rd. If caught, the sender could face terroristic threat and harassment charges.

TRENTON (AP) -- The state Senate has confirmed as the state's next attorney general. Jeff Chiesa had been Governor Chris Christie's chief counsel. The Branchburg resident previously worked with Christie at the U.S. Attorney's office.

KEYPORT - Authorities say a young boy escapes serious injury when he accidentally shot himself in the leg while playing with a gun in his Keyport home. The 10-year-old needed stitches after last night's incident. It's unclear how he got the weapon. Family members were home at the time of the shooting. An investigation is ongoing.

TOMS RIVER - What if the swine flu resurfaces or there's another public health crisis at the shore? The Ocean County Health Department is getting prepared for anything with a special faith based conference today at Ocean County College.

TRENTON - Homer Simpson likes Gov. Chris Christie for President. Christie gained pop culture status during a segment on the Fox program Sunday in which Mr. Burns asked Homer which Republican presidential candidate he preferred. A corpulent Christie was then shown choking on a drumstick while saying, "Save me, Obamacare."
