All of Ocean County has been buzzing today since word came out that Trader Joe's very well may be coming to Brick.

This morning, Shawn Michaels shared the news here on WOBM that has been taking the area by storm, with Brick Mayor John Ducey recently dropping the Trader Joe's name in connection to the former Ethan Allen space at Brick Plaza.

Usually, these things just kind of float around as rumors, but just a little while ago, a Trader Joe's official made an on-the-record comment on the topic, with Brick Patch sharing the following quote from the company's Public Relations Director:

We are interested in bringing a store to that location and are taking the necessary steps to make that happen. However, plans are not finalized. I look forward to sharing additional information if/when there's more to share.

I have to say, having been in this business as long as I have and having seen a lot of business rumors come and go, it's exceedingly rare to see a company make an official comment on something like this, so I think that while they're careful to note that the project isn't set in stone, it's certainly an encouraging confirmation of the legitimacy of the rumors.
