Toms River Police looking for witnesses in pedestrian-car accident
Toms River Police continue investigating a pedestrian accident on Route 9 south of Route 70 after a man walked across the road and was hit by a car on Tuesday afternoon around 2:40 pm.
Police say 60-year old Michael Goldberg of Toms River was outside the crosswalk mid-block on the northbound side of Route 9 when he was hit by the vehicle driven by 81-year old Samuel Mauro of Manchester Township.
He improperly crossed the road, police say, and failed to yield the right away to Mauro which caused the collision.
Goldberg was transported by the Toms River Township Ambulance to Jersey Shore Medical Center and is listed in critical but stable condition.
There is no evidence of impairment and there were no other injuries.

The investigation is ongoing and there are no charges being filed at this time.
