As former Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow continues his journey to become a baseball star, his first assignment in the New York Mets organization could be bringing him to FirstEnergy Park to face the Lakewood BlueClaws this spring.

Tebow has been assigned to the Mets new South Atlantic League team, the Columbia (S.C.) Fireflies (formerly the Savannah Sand Gnats. Which makes me kind of sad to lose, that was one of the best team names in Minor League Baseball in my opinion!).

The Fireflies will be heading north to take on the BlueClaws for the first time in 2017 for a 4-game series from May 13th - May 16th.

Now, there are a few conditions that may be at play here - Tebow could be cut before the Fireflies make it to Lakewood. Of course as with any professional athlete, an injury could bench him. Or, who knows, maybe professional baseball really is his true calling, he could always be advanced through the Mets system before then.

But hey, in the meantime, why not grab some BlueClaws tickets and try to catch the Tebow show when it comes to Ocean County? The BlueClaws have made tickets for the May series against Columbia available online now, just click here!
