A six-year-old boy is lucky to be alive after reportedly being completely run over by a school bus in Lakewood as his mother and bystanders watched in horror Monday afternoon.

The Lakewood Scoop reports the child walked away with just bruises and scrapes after landing between the wheels of the bus on Cabinfield Circle around 4:30 p.m., but
details of the incident remain unclear.

The driver reportedly checked on the child then left the scene, according to The Lakewood Scoop. The child was transported him to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.

Lakewood police said they are investigating the incident and spoke with the bus driver, but according to The Lakewood Scoop, exactly what transpired remains unknown.

A few hours earlier in Toms River, police said a 16-year-old boy struck by a car while crossing Route 70 near Yale Avenue, suffered head and internal injuries. He was in stable condition, according to authorities. No charges are expected to be filed against the driver, according to police.

Saturday night, a woman struck crossing a Manchester street was critically injured, according to police. No charges have been filed against the the driver in that incident.
