The Best Things to do in New Jersey During the Winter
Are you still in disbelief?
One day, you’re walking down a boardwalk enjoying the summer.
As you know, there’s nothing like walking down the boardwalk of Asbury Park, or in the quiet beach town of Lavallette, or even the bustling boardwalk filled with activities of Point Pleasant Beach.

When you do, you know it’s summertime.
There’s nothing like it.
Yes, it gets busy from Memorial Day to Labor Day and a few weekends after the weather cooperates. We love it.
Then you have the “off-season” when people are barely coming down to go to the beaches, seasonal businesses are closed, and it feels very much like a ghost town.
That doesn’t mean go indoors and hibernate until the Spring.
There is plenty of this to do around New Jersey, even at the Jersey Shore during the winter months.
One of my favorites, as we start ramping up the holiday season, driving around some of our beach towns to see the Christmas Lights.
We have some of the best in the entire country.
Beaches on one side, and a beautiful display on the other.
There's really no denying that.
Only In Your State, showcased plenty of things to do during the winter months in New Jersey, including right here at the Jersey Shore.
If you are a fan of skiing, believe it or not, New Jersey has a skiing resort. I'm actually a fan of this place during the summer for their water park but during the winter, Mountain Creek in Vernon, NJ comes alive with great slopes for the experienced to the beginner.
Another area is my personal favorite because it is very close to where I grew up. The Delaware Water Gap, heading into Pennsylvania is beautiful after a snowfall but offers a few snow activities. According to the site, I've done a few of these, but people can enjoy hiking to cross-country skiing. One of my favorite things to see is the frozen waterfalls when you're driving on Pennsylvania towards the small town of Stroudsburg, Pa.
Finally, a Jersey Shore favorite, the Polar Bear Plunge is back at Seaside Heights. This event, where brave participants jump into the icy cold water, will take place on February 25, 2023. This is an event I would like to try, but will I? Probably not. Maybe. We'll see if someone can talk me into this doing this event early next year.
