Anyone who has spent any amount of time driving the Route 9 corridor between Toms River and Forked River has seen the famous "Bayville Dinosaur".

The cute concrete beast has been a fixture at the current location in Bayville for nearly 60 years.

It's such a well known landmark that on many occasions I've heard people give directions relative to the dinosaur ("yeah, it's just before the dinosaur", "If you see the dinosaur you've gone too far", "make a right at the light after the dinosaur", etc).

If you continue North on Route 9, you'll spot another larger than life landmark, a huge champagne bottle, which has also stood for generations.

A bit further North in Ocean County is more of a curiosity than a landmark, the Brick "Midget House". It's on a quiet residential street and trespassers aren't exactly welcomed with open arms, but if you know where it is (I'm not going to be the one responsible for an influx of new visitors, so you'll have to find out for yourself!), it couldn't hurt to make a polite drive by viewing if you've never seen it for yourself.

And that's only scratching the surface of wonderful and memorable landmarks in Ocean County. What are some of your favorites? Tell us in the comments section!
