The NJSIAA has been providing daily statements addressing the coronavirus and its impact on current tournaments but by next week the focus will likely go the status of the spring sports season which is just around the corner.

To that end Rich Carroll, Athletic Director at Middletown North/South and President of the Shore Conference of High Schools sent out the following statement to AD’s in the Shore Conference:

“This is in response to questions in regards to any contingency plans the Shore Conference has in the wake of the Coronavirus situation.  While many potential scenarios have been discussed, there are far too many variables for any one decision to be made at this time.  The Shore Conference will continue to monitor the situation along with member schools and the NJSIAA.  When, and if, any changes need to be made in the future the Shore Conference Executive Board will make them with the health and well-being of our student athletes in mind.  In the meantime, any cancellations or alterations to scrimmage schedules should be made at the local level.”

There are several Shore Conference basketball teams still playing in the NJSIAA Tournament while the spring season opens for Lacrosse on March 25 and other sports (Baseball, Softball, Golf, Tennis, Track, Boys Volleyball) on April 1.
