ShopRite has a long history in New Jersey that goes back to 1946, when a group of independent grocery store owners teamed up to buy products together so they could compete with the big national chains. That partnership eventually became Wakefern Food Corp., a retailer-owned cooperative based in New Jersey.

Over the years, the brand grew across the state and throughout the Northeast, but many locations are still owned and operated by local families rather than one big corporation. Because of that, ShopRite has kept a strong neighborhood feel and has become one of the most familiar and trusted supermarket chains for shoppers across New Jersey.

Is The Shop Rite in Manchester Township, New Jersey Moving?

Folks in Manchester who say the Shop Rite location is crowded and too small may be happy to hear the owners are currently looking to move the store to a larger location.

According to Patch, "the plan was revealed at the Manchester Township Council meeting on Monday night. Carl Block, the township's business administrator, said the Saker family is working on the plan to construct a new store on Route 37, at the site that was once proposed for a Super Walmart."

No word on when this move could happen. If you shop at the current ShopRite location in Manchester Township, do you feel they need a new, bigger location? Let us know how you feel. Folks seem to be loving the new Stafford Township location.

Saker recently opened a new ShopRite location on Route 72 in Manahawkin in Southern Ocean County.
