Second Guilty Plea in Six Years for Child Porn Means New, Longer Sentence for Highlands Man

In 2008, Layne Bracht was sentenced to 30 months behind bars and five years of supervised release for pleading guilty to child pornography possession in 2008. Now, he faces 10 to 20 years for admitting that he uploaded more kiddie porn to an online peer-to-peer network.

Bracht, 32, of Highlands, also risks a fine as high as $250,000 at his scheduled March 13, 2015 sentencing, according to information from the office of New Jersey U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman.

The sentencing guidelines are based on his status as a convicted sex offender, authorities said.

In a Trenton courtroom today, Bracht admitted placing still and moving images of child sexual abuse into shared online folders on October 28, 2013, authorities said.

Federal investigators who searched his home on January 15 of this year reported finding and seizing numerous digital images of degrading, sadistic and masochistic behavior involving children.

The images included three downloaded from Bracht by undercover investigators, authorities said.
