Two Ocean County men have been sentenced for dealing drugs across the area in separate and unrelated cases.

In the first case, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer announced that Peter Nickey, 32, of Lakehurst, has been sentenced to eight years New Jersey State Prison as a result of a guilty plea in September of 2019 to Conspiracy to Possess Cocaine with Intent to Distribute in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:5-2 and N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5a(1).

Nickey found himself in trouble on November 25, 2018, when Lakewood Police Officers responded to a report of a motor vehicle stuck on the side of Route 88.

When officers spoke with Nickey at the scene they learned that he was the operator of the vehicle and they asked him for his driving credentials.

Nickey told the officers that his identification was in a vest inside his vehicle but when he retrieved the vest, a large amount of Crack Cocaine fell on the ground and officers believed it appeared to be packaged for distribution purposes.

Prosecutor Billhimer would like to acknowledge Assistant Prosecutor Ashley Angelo who handled this case on behalf of the State, as well as the Lakewood Township Police Department and Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit for their combined assistance in this investigation leading to Nickey’s state prison sentence.

In the second case, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer announced that Rayvon Thomas, 34, of Seaside Heights, has been sentenced to eight years in New Jersey State Prison as a result of a guilty plea in October of 2019 to Possession of Heroin in an Amount Greater than One-Half Ounce with Intent to Distribute in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5b(2).

In sentencing Thomas, the judge imposed a forty-two month period of parole ineligibility.

On March 21, 2019, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Strike Force, Ocean County Regional SWAT Team, Ocean County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit, Seaside Heights Police Department, and Toms River Police Emergency Services Unit and Special Enforcement Team simultaneously executed no-knock search warrants at locations in Seaside Heights and Toms River.

As a result, law enforcement seized quantities of raw unpackaged heroin and quantities of heroin packaged for resale, as well as quantities of “crack” cocaine and marijuana.

Drug paraphernalia associated with the manufacture, production and distribution of heroin was also seized.

Prosecutor Billhimer would like to acknowledge the fine work of Assistant Prosecutor Stephen Burke who prosecuted this case on behalf of the State, as well as the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Strike Force, Ocean County Regional SWAT Team, Seaside Heights Police Department, Toms River Township Police Department Emergency Services Unit and Special Enforcement Team, and Ocean County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit for their combined assistance in bringing Thomas to justice and securing his significant state prison sentence.
