The driver of a school bus and two students were injured Wednesday morning when it crashed into a concrete mailbox in a Marlboro neighborhood, according to Township Police.

A total of five students from the Biotechnology High School in Freehold were riding on the Durham School Services bus when it crashed on Tharp Lane shortly before 7 a.m., Marlboro Police Captain Frederick J. Reck said in a news release.

The driver, Soris Pena of Perth Amboy, was transported to Centra State Medical Center in Freehold with non-life threatening injuries by the Marlboro First Aid Squad.

The two students were released at the scene to their parents, according to Reck.

The accident is under investigation by Cpl. Brandon Stacey of the Marlboro Township Police Traffic and Safety Bureau. Reck said no motor vehicle summonses have been issued at this time pending the results of the investigation.
