With just over a month to go until FEMA's September 15 deadline, Superstorm Sandy homeowners who haven't applied to review their flood insurance settlements can get free help to start the process Wednesday, August 12 in Middletown.

A common fear that has stalled applications stems from FEMA's advisory in its mailings that homeowners who believe they were short-changed risk recoupments as well as increased payouts. OCLTRG Executive Director Sue Marticek suggests that it shouldn't deter any claimant who's still struggling financially.

"From what we are seeing from the cases so far there, is a great opportunity for homeowners to gain additional funding," Marticek said in an e-mail to WOBM News. "I would strongly encourage homeowners to look into this NFIP review as this may be the best and last chance to get some additional money into their recovery/construction plans."

Walk-ins are welcome, but you can set an appointment at 732-569-3484, ext. 24.
