UPDATE on Route 9 crash repairs in Toms River
Both ways of Route 9 in Toms River remain closed between Clayton Avenue and Church Road while repairs continue from an accident Sunday night, according to authorities.
Toms River police said crews continue repairing a downed pole and wires and hope to complete work by 3 p.m. Detours remain in place.
Motorists can use New Hampshire Avenue, Old Freehold Road or the Garden State Parkway as alternates.
Toms River Police Department spokesman Ralph Stocco said 63-year-old Corazon Requinto, a Township resident, was stopped in traffic and was passing vehicles on the right when she struck a utility pole around 6 pm, between Sunset Avenue and Church Road.
Requinto was issued a summons for careless driving by officer Mark Nater, according to Stocco.
