Heads up Ocean County drivers! Starting next week, you may want to leave a little extra time for your commute if you travel Route 37 on a regular basis.

The official Ocean County Commuter News website says that work begins next week on Route 37 both ways at the intersection of Route 166.

There will be expected lane shifts on both eastbound and westbound 37 as work on the median begins, while the project also encompasses parts of the area between Old Freehold Road and Highland Parkway.

Of course, there's been extensive work between Highland Parkway and Route 37 for months now causing traffic headaches, especially during the high volume morning and afternoon commutes.

With the work soon to envelope Route 37 as well at this heavily traveled area, you'll definitely want to plan some extra time for your travels through the area.

According to Micromedia Publications, the work is expected to take some time too, with a projected six month time frame.

You can of course always get the latest information on-air with Ocean County Traffic Watch throughout the day on 92.7 WOBM.
