A Burlington County man is facing a plethora of charges after a carjacking outside the AutoZone on Route 37 near Route 166 in Toms River.

The victim told responding Toms River Police Officers on Friday afternoon that he knew the suspects involved in the carjacking, one of whom he offered to ride to AutoZone after their vehicle broke down.

An acquaintance of the victim then left the vehicle and went towards the store.

The passenger door then opened but it was a man who pulled out a gun and demanded the victim's belongings be handed over.

The victim then got out and ran off to call police, while the suspect took off in the vehicle and drove off heading from Route 37 in Toms River to Route 70 in Manchester after police in the neighboring township spotted the vehicle heading west near Lakehurst.

Manchester Police Officers then pulled the vehicle over on Route 70 in Lakehurst and placed 20-year old Devin Copley-Clevenger of Lumberton under arrest.

Police found a 9mm handgun with a high capacity magazine in the vehicle with the Ocean County Sheriff's Department Crime Scene Unit then processing the vehicle.

Copley-Clevenger has been charged with first degree robbery, first degree car jacking, second degree unlawful possession of a weapon, second degree unlawful possession of a weapon, and fourth degree unlawful possession of a high capacity magazine.

The carjacking remains under investigation by Detective Seaman of the Toms River Police Department and if you have any information that can help him, send an email to tseaman@trpolice.org.
