‘Potentially dangerous dog’ fatally attacks another dog in Atlantic Highlands
Police in Atlantic Highlands have given a resident a summons for 'having a potentially dangerous dog' after their pet escaped its fenced backyard and attacked another dog who was being walked on East Mount Avenue by its owner.
Officers responded to the intersection of East Mount Avenue and Second Avenue on Monday afternoon around 1:08 pm and conducted an investigation.
Members of the Atlantic Highlands Fire Department and First Aid Squad immediately provided first aid to the wounded dog and then brought it to a local animal hospital where it later died from its injuries.
The owner of the attacker dog was issued a summons for having a potentially dangerous dog and for allowing it to run at large.
Police advised that owner to keep his dog on a leash and away from other dogs as well as secure his backyard to prevent the dog from ever escaping again.
