There were 131 summonses given out to people who illegally flocked to the Heritage Minerals site/ASARCO property in Manchester Township over the weekend.

It's been well noted over the years about the "No Trespassing" signs that are all over the property and on top of that police have urged people to stay off the property not just to rid it of criminal and misbehavior but for safety as well following drowning incidents over the years.

It has been made abundantly clear to stay off the property for any purpose or reason including public safety or else face hefty fines and possible jail time.

ASARCO is also private, not public property.

Manchester Police announced that they led efforts in a special enforcement detail heading to the property on Saturday afternoon which was a result of residential complaints of trespassing, noise, water crafts, ATV riders, and four-wheelers going in, around, and through the property of late.

To address the massive crowd on Saturday, Manchester Police were joined at ASARCO by the Ocean County Sheriff's Department, Toms River Police, New Jersey State Police Aviation Unit, and New Jersey State Police Marine Unit.

There were more than 200 people at ASARCO in vehicles, ATVs, and water crafts around the lake, police said, and once law enforcement measures got underway, people tried to leave the property.

At the end of the day, there were 90 Special Complaint Summonses (criminal violations)  issued and 41 Title 39 citations (traffic violations), which totaled 131 summonses, police said.

Along with that, a vehicle became stuck in the sand near the southeast part of the lake three times.

Eventually, police had to call in Priced Rite Towing to get the vehicle out of the sand which was done at the owner's expense and they were also given a summons.
