Robert F. Terry III was pronounced dead at 12:55 PM at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, according to a terse missive from the office of Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph Coronato.

Terry managed to clamber onto the roof of Bain Hardware in Point Pleasant Beach after bolting from a taxi cab when confronted by police. He had been sought in connection with a domestic incident in Brick Township just after midnight Wednesday. Investigators had tracked him to the borough several hours later.

The incident forced lockdowns of area schools and businesses. Terry was flown to the trauma center after pointing his handgun at his head and firing.
