Pedestrian in critical condition after being hit by a car in Belmar

Police in Belmar are investigating a Monday accident where a pedestrian was struck by a car while crossing southbound on 8th Avenue near the senior center building around 3:08 pm.

The 64-year old Belmar pedestrian remains hospitalized at Jersey Shore Medical Center in critical condition.

The 83-year old Avon driver was uninjured in the crash.

No charges have been reported.

The incident is still currently under investigation with the Belmar Police Department Detective Bureau, Det/Captain Thomas Cox and Traffic Safety Unit Officers PO Michael Allen and PO Joseph Clayton.
