I don't know what it is about my life, but I feel like the strangest things happen to me. This past weekend, another bizarre situation happened again.

My sister and brother in law were visiting this past weekend. We were sitting on the couch chit chatting when my dog, Sydney, came down the stairs.

Nothing all that unusual about that, right?

What was bizarre was what happened next.

At first, I thought that I heard a sound besides her walking down the stairs and her tags jingling. But, of course I knew that there wasn't anyone else (or anything else) in the house, so I discounted it.

Or was there?

Following right behind Sydney, a bat came swooping down the stairs and into the living room.

The funny part was my initial reaction - it wasn't fear, but more, "you've got to be kidding me!"

The airborne intruder flew frantically through the house, smacking into walls and swooping low over our heads. My first priority was actually Sydney, I didn't want her to get bit. So my sister took her outside while my brother in law and I teamed up for a bat-removal mission.

I had him hold the front door open (on a 16 degree evening none the less) while I wielded a tennis racquet. My goal wasn't to hurt the critter, but to usher it out the door. On each fly-by, I tried to push the racquet in the direction of the front door.

It wasn't working so well.

Finally, airborne burglar stopped for a breather and landed on a high wall.

As you can see in the picture above (because of course it's important to take a picture first), it landed on the side of a skylight wall in my living room. I quickly grabbed a plastic container from the kitchen and trapped it. I slid the tennis racquet over the bowl and brought it outside.

Thankfully, it was a happy ending for all involved - nobody was hurt, and the invader was back outside where it belonged.

The weird part is that I have no idea where it came from. There aren't any holes in my roof or attic. My door hadn't been left open for any period of time either. I truly have no idea how it got into my house or how it ended up zipping down the stairs.

Actually, I take that back, that's not the weird part - the really weird part? This is the second time this has happened!
