Ocean Township Police said in a statement Tuesday that 56-year old Philip Blumenthal is charged with Possession of Heroin and Oxycodone.

The stop took place on Monmouth Road around 8:40 pm on August 12 after Blumenthal was spotted committing a motor vehicle violation.

At the stop, the police officer on scene found that Blumenthal was riding around without a valid  license.

The officer then discovered that Blumenthal was in possession of heroin and prescription legend drugs and without a valid prescription.

Blumenthal was arrested and then transported to police headquarters for processing.

He was later released on a criminal summons pending an initial court appearance.
