Joe Coronato, Ocean County Prosecutor, is encouraging Ocean County residents not to respond to this scam coming in the mail.  From what the Prosecutor says, there is a logo of TD Bank and possibly a promise of an inheritance.  This is false.  If anything looks suspicious or you think you're being scammed, call the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office at 732 - 929 - 2027.

Mr. Coronato says it is "definitely" a scam.

"They promise access to inheritance money because of a similar last name, which no legitimate company would ever actively seek to disperse," he said.

The scammers are usually outside of the U.S.  They use internet-based websites and programs to mask their real phone numbers and locations, Coronato said, according to the Berkeley Patch.

If you feel you are being scammed, call the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office at 732 - 929 - 2027.
