Ocean County nurse arrested and charged for dealing drugs
An Ocean County nurse has been charged with dealing Adderall, Promethazine with Codeine Syrup and Xanax to buyers across the area, announced Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s New Jersey Division Susan Gibson, Prosecutor of Ocean County Bradley Billhimer and Jackson Police Chief Matthew Kunz.
Anthony Calabrese of Jackson was also found with 30 firearms, cash, a vehicle and other drug materials when the DEA and police searched his home this week.
He was charged by complaint with several charges of possession of Adderal, Xanax, and codeine syrup, and possession with intent to distribute to an undercover DEA agent Adderal, Xanax and codeine syrup.
Between July and August, the DEA Camden Residence Office Tactical Diversion Squad (CRO TDS) and the Jackson Township PD were investigating the drug distribution activities of Anthony Calabrese, a nurse in Ocean County, New Jersey.
On several occasions an DEA undercover agent met with Calabrese and received quantities of Adderall, Promethazine with Codeine Syrup, and Xanax.
Following these meetings a state authorized search warrant was obtained for Calabrese’s residence and vehicle.
On Monday members of the DEA CRO TDS and the Jackson Township PD executed the search warrants at 105 Joan Court in Jackson.
The search warrants resulted in the location and seizure of pills and powder (suspected Adderal), prescription washing materials, assorted pill bottles, U.S. currency, a vehicle, and 30 firearms to include shotguns, rifles, handguns, and a Thompson machine gun. Calabrese was taken into custody without incident.
“It is very disheartening that Mr. Calabrese, a person who swore to help people, chose to contribute to the drug problems that plague New Jersey by trafficking in prescription drugs," Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s New Jersey Division, Susan Gibson said. "It is also very concerning the number of weapons to which he had access. Drug trafficking and guns can only lead to a negative outcome.”
Calabrese was charged with:
Possession of Adderal, Xanax, and codeine syrup (NJ 2C:35-10A(1)
Distribution of Adderal, Xanax, and codeine syrup (NJ 2C:5B(5)
Possession and/or Possession with Intent to Distribute within 1000 feet of a school (NJ 2C:35-7A)
Possession of Firearms by a person previously convicted of a crime (NJ 2C:39-7B(1)
This investigation is being prosecuted by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.
