Six Flags Great Adventure Opening Day 2026, Boardwalk Changes

If you're anything like me, the countdown to opening day at Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey is officially on.

After a long cold winter, the park is getting ready to welcome guests back starting March 28th, 2026, and the 2026 season is already shaping up to be a really exciting one.

Not only are we getting the return of the rides, games, and energy that makes this park such a New Jersey favorite, but there are also some major improvements coming especially to one of my favorite areas of the park.

A Big Transformation Is Coming to The Boardwalk

One of the biggest announcements for 2026 is the major transformation of The Boardwalk section of the park.

If you’ve ever walked through this area, you know it’s meant to capture that classic Jersey Shore boardwalk vibe, and now it’s getting a big refresh. The project will introduce, new ride experiences, updated and refreshed dining options, and a more of an additional enhancement throughout the area, according to Six Flags Corporation.

The full details are still being released, but the reimagined Boardwalk is expected to open in late spring 2026. Personally, I’ve always loved that part of the park, so I’m really excited to see what they do with it.

Safari Spring Break Celebration Returns

Another reason opening weekend is such a big deal this year is the return of the Safari Spring Break Celebration, running March 28th, 2026 through April 12th, 2026.

This limited-time spring event brings a fun mix of wildlife and entertainment right into the park, giving families even more to do during spring break.

It’s a great way to mix the thrill of the amusement park with something a little different.

My Favorite Part of the Park: The Safari

While the roller coasters get most of the attention, one of my absolute favorite parts of visiting Great Adventure has always been the safari at Six Flags Wild Safari.

There’s just something really cool about going from riding coasters to seeing animals from around the world in the same day. The safari experience has become a signature part of visiting Great Adventure, and it’s always one of the highlights for me.

Opening Day Is Almost Here

Opening day is March 28th, 2026 which means the start of another fun season filled with rides, shows, animals, and plenty of new surprises.

With the Boardwalk upgrades, the Safari Spring Break Celebration, and a full season ahead, it looks like 2026 is going to be a great year at Six Flags Great Adventure.
