The big build in Seaside Heights continues to be just south of Dupont Avenue. The much-talked-about 'Ocean Club' is under construction, and grand plans seem to keep growing and growing.

This high-end resort in the resort town is massive. Built on a pier, there will already be a 17,000 square foot beach bar, a 28,000 square foot pool club, and last but not least a 10,000 square foot "entertainment venue" that will seat thousands of people will also be a part of The Ocean Club. I am told that Ocean Club is already in talks with "major concert promoters" to bring big names to the entertainment space.

What everybody is talking about at the moment is The Ocean Club's desire to build a heliport on the oceanfront property for VIP transportation.

Mayor Anthony Vaz told Shorebeat:

My understanding is that it’s planned to be located on the [Ocean Club] property, near the beach. So we as a town are required to do our due diligence and have professionals look at whatever might come our way.

Kudos to Seaside Heights officials for being ahead of the game. It's being reported that the town has started talking with an aeronautical consulting firm and a special attorney. They are expecting an application to come through and it seems that they are ready to handle it.

I can't speak for the residents and businesses of Seaside Heights, but the last thing we need at the beach is a loud helicopter transporting guests while we are trying to enjoy our time on the beach.

The good news is apparently this isn't the first time the idea of a heliport has been floated by Seaside Heights officials. Each and every time the request has been denied. Let's hope it stays that way.
