Obama is making his tax pitch in Iowa, the state that launched his presidential bid in 2008 and will be heavily contested this fall.

Obama wants Congress to pass a one-year extension of the Bush-era tax cuts for households earning less than $250,000 before they expire at the end of the year. Romney wants to extend cuts for all earners, calling Obama’s plan a “massive tax increase.”

The president was meeting with an Iowa couple the White House says would benefit from his tax plan and holding a campaign event at a Cedar Rapids community college.
