New Jersey’s BEST National Recreation Area Is Among Best In The U.S.
If there is one park you need to see if you are visiting New Jersey, it is the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area in Northwest New Jersey. According to Google "Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area straddles a stretch of the Delaware River on the New Jersey and Pennsylvania border. It encompasses forested mountains, grassy beaches and the Delaware Water Gap, which slices through the Kittatinny Ridge. Miles of trails include a section of the Appalachian National Scenic Trail."
According to their website, "Situated within the most densely populated region of the United States, Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area provides a unique opportunity to experience tranquil landscapes, rich human history, and striking scenery along 40 miles of the longest free-flowing river east of the Mississippi. The park offers year-round recreation including hiking, paddling, fishing, and hunting." It is truly a stunning section of the Garden State and it's a look that Jersey is not very known for. If you love hiking, sightseeing, photography, nature, etc. then this is the one park you need to see here in New Jersey. I have hiked at the "Gap" and it's a beautiful place to visit.
According to Love Exploring, "Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area sprawls out over 70,000 acres and that means you'll probably be able to find a pocket of it that's just yours. It's richly forested, so you can hike or camp under a canopy of lush green or fiery fall foliage, depending on the season. The main draw is the water, though. Boating is popular here and there are a trio of pretty river beaches, two of which have canoe launches."
