If You Want To Live Longer, Stop Eating This Famous New Jersey Food
So this is a serious bummer, and I mean a serious bummer.
Obviously, at this point in our lives, we know what foods are generally good for us, and what foods are generally not so good for us.
Thing is, we usually don't pay the second one too much mind right?
For example, I know that pretzels and cream cheese is not a good combination for a healthy snack.
But I eat it anyway because for breakfast I had a banana, yogurt, and eggs.
Well, a report was recently released that named some of the worst foods we can eat.
Foods that not only are bad for us, but that will actively shorten our lifespan, and I don't know about you but looking to live as long as possible.
Now, some of the foods that were on the list are kind of obvious; doughnuts, hot dogs, sugary sodas, and salty snacks (there goes my pretzel and cream cheese combo!).
Before we get to the famous New Jersey food that's shortening our lifespan, let's take a look at some of the surprising foods that are actually helping to improve our overall health.
Love Food reported that spicy foods are linked to longer lives when eaten for six meals per week.
In addition, a little extra spice in the diet supposedly jump-starts your metabolism!
I for one love spicy food, however, my wife is not so much a fan so I don't think I'll ever be able to hit six meals per week!
Another surprise 'healthy' food was the classic peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
If that's the case, I'm going to live to be 120, because I ate a PB&J every day for lunch from Pre-K through high school!
So, What Famous New Jersey Food Is Actually Shortening Our Lifespan?
So, here's where we really hit "that's a bummer" territory.
During this past summer, I must have eaten this at least twice a week for breakfast in one various form or another.
Odds are you've eaten quite a bit too, maybe even at lunch today on a hoagie.
Love Food reports that processed meats such as ham, bacon, and yes Pork Roll are linked to shorter lifespans.
That's a problem because there's nothing I love more than a Pork Roll, egg, and cheese sandwich on a bagel or hard roll.
So whether that makes you cut out Pork Roll completely, or not is totally up to you.
Personally, I'm a big believer of everything in moderation, which includes one of the most famous foods to come out of the Garden State: Pork Roll.
