I recently stumbled upon a graphic that was circulating on Facebook that showed you where the 24-hour restaurants are in New Jersey.

According to NJ.com, there are only 16 24-hour diners remaining in the state.

At first, I didn't believe it.

New Jersey is known for its diner culture. That culture includes said diners being open 24/7.

How could we have allowed the degradation of the pinnacle of New Jersey culture???

We have diners and the round-and-round argument of whether the breakfast meat is called pork roll or Taylor ham...that's it!

Okay, there is more to New Jersey than that, but you get my point.

Also, to my North Jersey friends...stop being so wrong. It's pork roll.

I digress.

As I scrolled through NJ.com's ranking of all 16 24-hour diners in New Jersey I was waiting to see one that I had been to.

One diner that fed my soul in the wee hours of the night with a turkey club or a short stack of French toast.

To much dismay, I was seriously disappointed.

Not a single diner was in Ocean County.

Not a single diner was in Monmouth County.

How tragic!

How did we let this happen my fellow New Jerseyans?

Don't get me wrong, I love Wawa as much as the next person, but sometimes I just want a cup of coffee in a small, thick white mug, read the advertisements on a placemat, and get a turkey club with extra mayo on the side.

Wawa can't give me that.
