The lights are back on in Downtown Toms River after a motor vehicle crash took down a utility pole Tuesday evening. WOBM News Bureau Chief Tom Mongelli said the vehicle struck the utility pole near the intersection of Water Street and Caldwell Lane and emergency crews are at the scene.

Toms River Police Public Information Officer Ralph Stocco said the collision involved one car into the utility poll and no injuries are reported.  Expect Water Street to remain closed as utility crews continue to secure the pole.

At one point, the JCP&L outage map showed anywhere from 500 to 1,500 customers without electricity and estimated power to be restored by 8:30 p.m.but lights began cutting back on in Downtown Toms River before 8 p.m. and the JCP&L Outage Map only shows scattered weather-related issues.
