Pedestrian dies after being hit by car on Water Street in Toms River
A 73-year old Manchester Township man who was hit by a car while in the crosswalk on Water Street near Robbins Parkway dies from his injuries Friday night around 6:30 pm.
Police say James Icklan was heading south along Robbins Parkway when a 2003 Isuzu driven by 51-year old Carlos Irizarry of Toms River heading east on Water Street hit the Manchester man.
Icklan was reportedly crossing against his pedestrian indicator signal when he was hit, police add.
He was transported to Community Medical Center where he died a short time afterwards.
A witness at the scene provided police with information on the initial cause of the accident.
