Marlboro Police looking for witnesses of crash that severely injured pedestrian on Route 9

A pedestrian, identified as Nathan Martinez, was crossing Route 9 Northbound near Willow Lane, police said, when he was hit by a Kia Seltos.

The driver, Lauren Wiodarski, 26, of Rockaway was not injured and is not facing any criminal charges, Marlboro Police Captain Stephen Levy confirmed to Townsquare Media News.

"She is not facing any charges as the pedestrian was not crossing at a crosswalk or at a traffic light," Captain Levy said.

After police and first responders including the Morganville First Aid Squad arrived on scene, Martinez was brought to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital by M.F.A.S. for an evaluation and treatment of broken bones and internal injuries.

Marlboro Police are investigating the cause of the crash, "but we do not believe drugs or alcohol are factors."

Right now, police said it's also possible Martinez was hit by a second vehicle along that same stretch of roadway.
